Time to delve into my main 2024 goals
Oh, I’m also going to share a big fail on my part in the past 18 months…
…Something you do NOT want to do!
The first publicly declared goal I made on the internet was to earn $1 as an affiliate marketer.
At the time I’d tried and failed for nearly 5 years to make that first sale
So, I published that goal on October 20th, 2008 and thanks to mentorship, achieved it just 5 weeks later.
Now I’m going to publish my goals for 2024 and stake my claim publicly once again
Because at its core, this is what I’ll be documenting the journey to here on the blog
This year I’m breaking my goals into 3 categories:
A) Personal life goals
B) Business goals
C) Investment goals
Let’s get into it…
Personal Life Goals
These are my goals with health, relationships and happiness…
I turn 40 years of age this year, it feels like an important and significant milestone in life
As a result, I’m striving to do better than ever in these areas
Health – I’m aiming to end 2024 in the best physical shape of my life.
I’m now going to a gym and playing badminton 3 times per week
Considering I normally just sit on my ass every day, this is a massive improvement.
Relationships – Not only do I want to see more of my (very) small circle of friends and family…
I want to enjoy more quality time with my wife.
We work a lot, which is great because we love what we do
However, life passes by so fast and therefore we have devised an exciting plan for ourselves:
Once a week we’ll have a date night together (meal out, or cook at home)
Once a month we’ll do some kind of experience together (day trip, west end theatre show or whatever… something fun)
And once a quarter we’re going to take some kind of vacation for at least a week, either in the UK where we live or abroad.
Next…
Business Goals
I’ve made many mistakes in business, but in the last 18 months I made a big one…
As you’ll no doubt be aware, the economy has experienced some major impacts recently
All of which have caused costs to soar for both individuals and businesses
Throughout this time, all our overheads rose significantly
Our advertising costs have exploded, and we rely on this channel for the bulk of our customer acquisition
At Internet Profits over the past 18 months, I have focused extensively on infrastructure, marketing, fulfilment and scale
In doing so, I’ve reinvested pretty much every penny made back into the business to the tune of millions
Reinvesting was intentional so it’s by no means an error.
However, what I failed to do whilst focusing on growth and scale was to be on top of the data / numbers in the business
Truth is, I’ve gotten to where I am by becoming a great marketer of great products that make a real difference to people.
I’m proud of that.
However, I’m very aware now of my weaknesses and have been working hard to get better at them and overcome them
Most notably, tracking key data to make fully informed decision at a level of scale, rather than gut instinct
Lacking such data is a mistake I will never make again and I recommend you consider the same.
And now I couldn’t be more excited!
The foundations I’m coming into this year with will enable 2024 will be the most profitable year in my career…
Either that, or you’ll Watch Me Fail 😉
One thing is for sure, I’m striving to help more people than ever before, and that should help me and my goals #win-win
Profitability is not my only goal, it’s the way I shall build my income that really matters most to me
At InternetProfits, my primary goal this year is to grow our recurring revenue to about $200,000 per month via subscription based revenue.
I’ll go into more detail on the specifics to this in a future post and lay out how I’ll do it.
At COABE cosmetics we have a similar focus…
After almost 3 years of development, we launched the first product in our skincare line in the later part of 2023
The product has immensely good customer feedback and having just recently introduced a “subscribe and save” option on the store, we want to scale that up as a primary goal.
However, we faced huge challenges throughout 2023 at COABE in our advertising.
Industry changes really hit us hard and we’ve not managed to get our customer acquisition working at scale since, so in 2024 we will crack that once more
At our peak we were getting 200 – 300 new customers a day into the business so we have a lot of work to do to get back there but I’m excited for the challenge.
Finally…
Investment Goals
I’m ashamed to admit, investing and creating wealth has rarely crossed my mind until recently
Let’s just say for most of my life I’ve not been the smartest with money, but you better believe I’ve enjoyed it haha.
However, it’s time for a new season with this new ‘me’ and it’s time to wise up.
Right now, I’m considering what investment vehicles are of interest to me and therefore will get my focus
But I don’t want that to cause any delay in taking action, so I’ve gone ahead and done something…
I’ve created a new online bank account attached to my main business account
The new account is called my “Profit Pot” … AKA, my investment fund.
Whilst I don’t yet know how I’ll use the funds, my initial goal is to start depositing something into it every day / week / month
This post is getting rather long, so I’ll go into this in more detail and continue to share the progress moving forwards
For now, you get the general idea – Grow a pot of money to invest in wealth creation vehicles outside of the businesses.
So, there you have it…
My personal goals, business goals and investment goals
Of course, I have smaller / secondary goals in addition to what I’ve shared here today…
I’m always mindful of the length of these posts, so in future I’ll share even more
(If you’re interested of course? …Let me know in the comments!)
I’d love to hear more about your goals too, why not drop them into your comment…
Have the courage to make them real by publishing them
It may be scary because we worry about failing, but don’t…
Remember, you cannot take action without fails along the way and you sure don’t succeed without failing being part of the process
I look forward to now documenting the journey in the weeks and months ahead to turning my goals into reality.
Until next time
Cheers
Dean
Dean, I love the way you split your goals into categories. I think that’s amazing. Especially the one with your wife it’s so important that you spend time together as there’s no point to any of this or earning any money if you haven’t got the people around you to share it with. Having a date night and weekend away and a holiday regularly is so important and that’s half of the reason why I want to do affiliate marketing so I can get that lifestyle .
I hear what you say about the numbers and how important they are. In fact that’s the question I asked Alex Jefferys in our call just before Christmas. He said numbers are the most important thing. That’s probably a weak area of mine where I will need guidance and help as I’m sure everyone will. It’s refreshing to see your numbers as it shows what is possible using this business model, and even a tiny proportion of that would change my life.
Regarding investment goals, this is also something I’m thinking about. We spend most of our lives spending all of our monthly income on liabilities. Where is what we should be doing is building assets and in time these assets will create money for us even while we here are asleep. I really enjoyed your blog and I can’t wait for the next one. Thanks, Atif
I enjoyed your coaching call, today, because blogs and blogging are my favorite thing. Now I want to do it correctly. As far as knowing my numbers, future guidance on this topic would be welcome. What to do with the money once it manifests?
Allowing abundance to flow is a first step. Mindset mindset mindset.
Hey there Dean! It seems to me like you have got heaps of work on your plate!! Those are some rather big goals. I love tho your plan you’ve made with the people you care about. It is so easy for us (especially those of us prone to be “workaholics”) to get so busy and focused on our day to day job and before we know it another whole year has gone by. I have two small boys and while the days can feel real, real long sometimes haha in all truth the weeks just fly by and it will take my breath away at how quickly they are growing up. I have been making real effort to be much more intentional about how I spend my time and when I have those moments to just BE with them, to really be present and enjoy it. After all, what’s the point of working so hard to have nice things if we don’t have people we care about around us to enjoy them with. Life is lived in the journey, for sure.
Best wishes,
AK
Hey Acasha
I LOVE that you’re doing that because it’s so true – Time flies by no matter what we do with it so we better make every day count hey 🙂
Easier said than done of course but if we are intentional about it then it becomes easier for sure
just have to be mindful not to slip into bad habits of just “existing” and staying “busy” constantly without being mindful
All the best to you and making it happen!
Let’s do this 🙂
To set goals like this you have to be good at introspection and while you may have lacked that in the past, it seems you have now acquired it to some tune. It’s never easy, in fact it’s one of the hardest habits to really get into.
I know from your history that you have everything it takes to reach all the goals you set – in fact we all have that within if we would only realise it as a fact.
God bless.
Thank you Graham, that means a lot!
Let’s both be sure to reach our goals and get what we want from our businesses so all the hard work pays off hey 🙂
Hey Dean, I loved your latest blog about 2024 goals. I actually have very similar goals in all those areas. I too am going to be working very hard on getting back in great shape.Back in the old days, I was a professional actor, stuntman , martial artist, and musician. I was in great shape and worked out heavily all the time. Then about 5 years ago I ended up with bone on bone in both of my hips and was in excrutiating pain all the time and could barely walk.Well needless to say my life took a big turn. But now it is different.I ended up getting both of my hips replaced in the beginning of 2023 and now I feel great! It’s like I was reborn again with a whole new life and now I am excited to do everything! So, besides getting into great shape again, I am also trying to do more with my wife , and make my new business online a huge success, and then start investing like you.So here’s to us Dean! Cheers! And when you get a chance take a look at my latest blog also or all of them if you’d like. Lets keep on, keeping on!! Jim OBrien…
Hey Jim
Wow – sounds liek you’ve been through some tough times my friend but LOVE to hear you’ve overcome the pain with your hips!
Let’s both be sure to make our goals a reality, we can do this!!! 🙂
Hi Dean,
Thank you for this post. In particular, your omission of, ‘tracking key data to make fully informed decision at a level of scale, rather than gut instinct’.
I am acutely aware that maths is not my strong suit and because of that, I have shied away from anything to do with numbers.
For that reason, I have noted it in my blog as part of ‘my story’ as a reminder to prioritize and to discuss as a major component and fundamental to business in knowing your numbers.
Thank you for your leadership, and I do appreciate your integrity in this world of affiliate marketing.
Thanks Eleanor!
Very kind of you 🙂
We all have our strengths and weaknesses, part of life – I think focusing on our strong points pays off far more than focusing on our weaknesses 🙂
Onward we march!!
Dean, I loved the read and look forward to your updates along your Journey! I truly appreciate that your focus is built around helping others succeed. So many people focus on how to make a buck, instead of what really matters… Friends, Family, Relationships…Etc. I admire your goals, and I have found that Money is secondary and replenishes itself, People do not… Once gone, Memories are all we have to reflect upon. Thank you for Being YOU! 😁 Your Honesty is Greatly Appreciated! Onwards to 2024 being the Greatest Year Ever!
